Description
The ifm SM7004 and related SM7xxx series are magnetic-inductive (electromagnetic) flow meters designed for continuous volumetric flow measurement of conductive liquids (≥ 5 µS/cm) in industrial and process applications. The SM7004 is a compact inline unit with dual analog output (4–20 mA for flow + 4–20 mA for temperature) , making it ideal for simultaneous flow and temperature monitoring in cooling loops, CIP systems, and process skids. Models SM7000, SM7050, SM7100, SM7604, SM7400, and SM7404 offer different flow ranges, process connections (threaded or clamp), and output configurations (IO-Link, pulse, or dual analog).
All SM7xxx sensors use Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction — no moving parts, no pressure drop, and immune to viscosity changes. They require a minimum fluid conductivity of 5 µS/cm (tap water OK; deionized water NOT measurable).

Need both flow AND temperature from one sensor? Choose SM7004 (small flow) or SM7604 (larger flow) — saves separate temperature probe & wiring. Food / dairy / pharma? Choose Clamp connection models (SM7400 / SM7404) for hygienic tri-clamp mounting. Cooling water / machine coolant? Threaded G½ or G¾ (SM7000/7004/7050/7604) are most common.
