Description

The ifm SM7004​ and related SM7xxx series are magnetic-inductive (electromagnetic) flow meters​ designed for continuous volumetric flow measurement of conductive liquids (≥ 5 µS/cm) in industrial and process applications. The SM7004​ is a compact inline unit with dual analog output (4–20 mA for flow + 4–20 mA for temperature)​ , making it ideal for simultaneous flow and temperature monitoring in cooling loops, CIP systems, and process skids. Models SM7000, SM7050, SM7100, SM7604, SM7400, and SM7404​ offer different flow ranges, process connections (threaded or clamp), and output configurations (IO-Link, pulse, or dual analog).
All SM7xxx sensors use Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction — no moving parts, no pressure drop, and immune to viscosity changes. They require a minimum fluid conductivity of 5 µS/cm (tap water OK; deionized water NOT measurable).
