Description

The ifm VKV021​ and related VTV121 / VTV122 / VKV022​ are vibration monitors / vibration transmitters​ designed for condition-based monitoring (CBM) of rotating machinery​ (motors, pumps, fans, gearboxes). They accept input from an IEPE / ICP® piezoelectric accelerometer​ (typically ifm’s VSA series), process the vibration signal, and provide:
  • VKV021 / VKV022​ → Switch output version​ — 2 independently adjustable switching points (Warning / Danger) with intuitive potentiometer or keypad setting; 2 × PNP/NPN switch outputs + 1 analog 4–20 mA (proportional to vibration velocity/acceleration RMS).
  • VTV121 / VTV122​ → Transmitter version​ — primary 4–20 mA analog output representing RMS vibration (velocity mm/s or acceleration g), optional second output or alarm contact.
Both families measure overall vibration RMS​ (usually filtered 10 Hz – 1 kHz band for velocity evaluation per ISO 10816) and can detect bearing damage trends when used with high-frequency acceleration evaluation (on select firmware/config). They feature a bright LED bar graph / numeric display​ (on VKV021 display versions) for local indication and simple setup without a PC.

💡 ISO 10816 Guidance:
  • Typical velocity alarm thresholds: Class II machines (15–75 kW)— Warning ~ 2.8 mm/s RMS, Danger ~ 4.5 mm/s RMS (but always baseline your healthy machine first!).
  • Use VKV021’s “teach” function: run machine in healthy state → press Teach → monitor auto-sets switch point at e.g. 1.2× healthy RMS.
  • Mount accelerometer (VSA series) on bearing housing as close to shaft centerline as possible — both horizontal & vertical if dual-plane analysis desired (usually one plane monitored per VKV).
