Description
The Schneider Electric TeSys LRD series are bimetal thermal overload relays (OLR) designed to clip directly onto TeSys D (LC1D) contactors, providing reliable motor overload, phase-loss, and prolonged overcurrent protection. The listed models — LRD07C (1.6–2.5A) through LRD35C (23–32A for larger frames, or 30–38A on LC1D38…D65 context) — cover the low-to-medium current range for controlling motors from 0.1 kW up to ~15 kW (400V AC-3). Each unit features an adjustable current dial, manual/auto reset, test button, trip flag indicator, and 1NO+1NC auxiliary contacts for breaking the coil circuit and signaling alarms to a PLC/HMI.
Key Features
- Direct Snap-On Mounting: No extra wiring between contactor and OLR — mounts to front of LC1D09…D65 contactors.
- Adjustable Trip Current: Dial-set to match motor Full Load Ampere (FLA).
- Trip Class: Class 10A (trips in 2–10 sec at 10×In per IEC 60947-4-1).
- Auxiliary Contacts: 1 × NC (95-96, early break — opens coil circuit on trip) + 1 × NO (97-98 — for alarm/PLC).
- Phase Failure Sensitivity: Trips on loss of one phase.
- Ambient Temp. Compensation: -20 °C to +60 °C compensated.
- Country of Origin: France / Morocco / China (Schneider global)
Model & Setting Range Table
Model | Fits Contactor | Current Setting Range (A) | Typical Motor (400V AC-3) |
|---|---|---|---|
LRD07C | LC1D09…D18 | 1.6 – 2.5 A | ~0.55 kW |
LRD08C | LC1D09…D18 | 2.5 – 4.0 A | ~1.1 kW |
LRD10C | LC1D09…D25 | 4.0 – 6.0 A | ~1.5–2.2 kW |
LRD12C | LC1D09…D25 | 5.5 – 8.0 A | ~2.2–3 kW |
LRD14C | LC1D09…D32 | 7.0 – 10.0 A | ~3–4 kW |
LRD16C | LC1D18…D38 | 9.0 – 13.0 A | ~4–5.5 kW |
LRD21C | LC1D25…D50 | 12.0 – 18.0 A | ~5.5–7.5 kW |
LRD22C | LC1D25…D50 | 17.0 – 23.0 A | ~7.5–11 kW |
LRD32C | LC1D32…D65 | 23.0 – 32.0 A | ~11–15 kW |
LRD35C | LC1D38…D65 | 30.0 – 38.0 A (some refs up to 40A) | ~15–18.5 kW |
⚠️ Selection Rules:
Match OLR frame to contactor frame (LRD07–LRD35 → LC1D09…D65). Set dial to Motor FLA — NEVER to contactor rated current! Star-Delta starters need 2 OLRs: Main OLR = FLA; Delta-run OLR = FLA ÷ √3. “C” suffix = screw terminals on auxiliary contacts (control side).
