Description

The Advantech ADAM-4019+​ is a high-performance 8-channel analog input module​ designed for remote data acquisition over RS-485 (Modbus/RTU or Advantech ASCII protocol). It is specifically optimized for thermocouple (TC) and mV signal measurement, with each channel independently configurable for:
  • Thermocouple Types: J, K, T, E, R, S, B, N
  • mV ranges: ±15 mV, ±50 mV, ±100 mV, ±500 mV, ±1 V, ±2.5 V
  • Optional + current input via shunt (externally)
  • Burnout detection for open TC
The ADAM-4019+ features 3000 V DC optical isolation​ between I/O and RS-485 bus, on-board cold-junction compensation (CJC) for TC types, and watchdog timer — making it ideal for distributed temperature monitoring in harsh industrial environments without running analog signal wires back to a central PLC analog card.

  • For Modbus masters (PLC/DCS/SCADA): Holding registers typically map AI values as signed integers (e.g., Reg 0x0000–0x0007 = Ch1–Ch8). Refer to Advantech Modbus mapping table.
  • RS-485 wiring: A(+) / B(-) — ensure proper polarization; add 120 Ω termination resistor at bus ends if > 100 m or high baud.
  • If mixing TC types on one module — ADAM-4019+ allows per-channel configuration​ — very flexible vs fixed-range cards.
