⚠️ Not the same as G5! Some distributors incorrectly list this as “G5 series” — that is WRONG. The 1S series (R88M-1M…) is Omron’s newer platform launched ~2018, succeeding G5. While G5 (R88M-G…) also uses EtherCAT in some variants, the R88M-1M40030H-S2 is specifically a 1S motor and only works with 1S drives (R88D-1SN-ECT). Attempting to connect to a G5 drive will fail — different encoder electrical interface and firmware.

⚠️ Critical compatibility checklist:
Drive must be R88D-1SN-ECT — 400W drive is R88D-1SN04-ECT. Using G5 drive (R88D-KN04-ECT) will NOT work — different encoder interface. No brake in this model — If vertical axis or holding torque needed during power loss → order R88M-1M40030H-BS2 (brake version). Incremental encoder (23-bit) — Not absolute. If you need absolute positioning (no homing required) → 1S series also offers battery-free absolute multi-turn variants (look for “-□S2” with absolute encoder option). 230V single-phase drive supply — The drive (R88D-1SN04-ECT) takes 230VAC single-phase input; the motor itself runs on 3-phase 230V from the drive output. Don’t confuse: motor winding is 230V 3φ class. EtherCAT master required — This motor (via its drive) speaks EtherCAT only.
