Description
The Mitsubishi MR-J2M-10DU-S020 is a multi-axis servo amplifier (drive unit) base module from the MELSERVO-J2 Super (J2M) series, designed for centralized cabinet mounting to drive multiple small-capacity Mitsubishi servo axes (typically 50W–1kW per axis, depending on connected J2M axis modules).
Unlike standalone J2-series drives (MR-J2S-□A), the J2M system consists of:
- MR-J2M-10DU-S020 → Main Base Unit (Power Supply + Communication Interface) — houses the main power input (3×200V AC), regenerative resistor terminal, and communicates with the motion controller (via SSCNET or parallel I/O depending on configuration). The “-S020” suffix typically denotes a specific regional / cable-kit variant for the J2M base.
- MR-J2M-□□DU Axis Modules (e.g., MR-J2M-10DU-A — 100W axis module, MR-J2M-20DU-A — 200W, etc.) → Snap onto the right side of the base unit; each controls one servo motor.
The J2M architecture reduces panel space vs multiple individual J2S drives and shares a common DC bus among axes for regenerative energy distribution.
Key Features
- Multi-Axis Architecture: 1 Base Unit + up to 3 (or more, depending on power) Axis Modules — saves DIN rail space.
- Power Supply: 3-phase AC 200–230V input on base unit; supplies DC bus to all attached axis modules.
- Control Interface: Connects to Mitsubishi Motion Controllers (AD71, QD75, etc.) via SSCNET (Serial Servo Communication Network — J2 era = SSCNET, not SSCNET III) or can operate in stand-alone mode with I/O modules (some variants).
- Compatible Motors: Mitsubishi HC-KFS, HF-KP (J2-compatible 17-bit encoder motors — 50W–1kW typical for 10DU base).
- Regenerative Brake: External regenerative resistor connects to base unit terminals (optional — required for frequent deceleration).
- Country of Origin: Japan (Mitsubishi Electric)
Model / System Composition Table (J2M Series Example)
Model | Type | Function | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
MR-J2M-10DU-S020 | J2M Base Unit (Main) | Power input (3×200V AC), SSCNET I/F, regen term., 24V ctrl pwr | Houses up to 3 axis modules (10DU = small cap. base) |
MR-J2M-10DU-A | J2M Axis Module | 100W (0.1kW) axis drive — snaps onto base | For HC-KFS053 / HF-KP053 etc. |
MR-J2M-20DU-A | J2M Axis Module | 200W (0.2kW) axis drive | For HC-KFS13 / HF-KP13 etc. |
MR-J2M-40DU-A | J2M Axis Module | 400W (0.4kW) axis drive | For HC-KFS23 / HF-KP23 etc. |
MR-J2S-70A | Standalone J2S Drive | Single-axis 750W — NOT part of J2M stack | Compare if multi-axis consolidation desired |
⚠️ Important Notes:
Base + Axis Modules Required: The MR-J2M-10DU-S020 is ONLY the base unit — you MUST also order the appropriate MR-J2M-□DU axis modules for each servo axis you intend to run. A complete system = 1 Base + N Axis Modules (within power/temperature limit). SSCNET (Gen 1): J2M uses SSCNET (not SSCNET III/III H) — requires a Mitsubishi Motion controller with SSCNET I/F (e.g., QD75MH, AD71) or older A/Q-series motion cards. Cannot directly replace J3/J4 SSCNET III wiring. Motor Compatibility: J2M axis modules drive J2-compatible 17-bit encoders — HC-KFS, HF-KP series (50W–1kW typical for 10DU base). Do NOT mix with J3/J4 18-bit/22-bit motors on same J2M hardware (incompatible encoder protocol). Regenerative Resistor: For frequent stop/start or vertical axes — select external regen resistor (e.g., MR-RB□) and connect to base unit R/L+/R/L- terminals per manual. Obsolete Status: J2 / J2M is legacy / mature product — new production may be discontinued in some regions; we supply new-old-stock (NOS) and tested refurbished units. Consider J4M / J5M for new designs if migration path confirmed.
